Raising the Standard, Year on Year

Streamliner Productions x Harcourts New Zealand - HX National Awards

THE PARTNERSHIP

A New Zealand real estate brand that deserves a national awards event that reflects its standing in the industry. Since 2023, Streamliner Productions has been the production partner behind the Harcourts HX Conference and National Awards, delivering the technical production for what Harcourts Managing Director Bryan Thomson has described as "the best Harcourts conference to date".

This is not a one-off engagement. It is a multi-year partnership built on trust, escalating ambition, and a shared commitment to delivering something that feels genuinely world-class for the 800-plus team members who travel from across New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa to attend each year. Streamliner works closely with Total Event, the event management company responsible for producing all components of the HX Conference on behalf of Harcourts. It is a strong three-way working relationship — one where clear communication and aligned standards make the

YEAR BY YEAR

The partnership began in 2023 at Te Pae Convention Centre in Christchurch, establishing the visual and production language for what the HX Awards could be. With a speaker line-up that included Olympic gold medallist Ruby Tui, Ritz-Carlton Practice Director Neha Rajebhosale, and crisis negotiator Lance Burdett, the production had to hold its own against world-class content. It did. In 2024, the event moved to Tākina Convention Centre in Wellington, where a different venue brought different challenges — new geometry, new rigging points, new sightlines. Working in close coordination with Total Event, Streamliner adapted the production design to an unfamiliar space while raising the visual standard from the year before.

The 2025 event at Te Pae was the most ambitious iteration yet. With 800-plus attendees, an international speaker programme featuring mind coach Robin Banks, entrepreneur Phil M Jones, and Paralympian Curtis McGrath, and the induction of Kevin and Andrea Deane into the Harcourts Hall of Fame as the centrepiece of the evening awards, the production was operating at a genuinely international level. Total Event coordinated every element of the conference experience around the production, and the result — described by Bryan Thomson as the best conference in Harcourts' history — reflected what that kind of close collaboration can achieve.

The conference returns to Te Pae in 2026 with a refined, creatively evolved brief. Looking ahead, 2027 marks another big step with a move to the New Zealand International Convention Centre in Auckland.

PUSHING THE TECHNICAL BOUNDARIES

Each year, the brief gets bigger. That is not accidental — it is the result of a client who has seen what is possible and wants to keep moving forward, and a production partner committed to finding new ways to deliver it.

The HX Awards is a complex, high-stakes event. It combines a full two-day conference format — keynote presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and breakout sessions — with an awards ceremony that needs to feel genuinely spectacular. The production has to serve both modes, transitioning between them without friction while maintaining energy and momentum across a full day's programme.

From large-format blended projection and custom LED configurations that reshape the visual experience of each room, to broadcast-quality lighting design that makes the awards ceremony feel like a television event, to the precise technical coordination required to manage 800-plus people across multiple sessions — every element is designed to work seamlessly together. Total Event's ability to coordinate all the moving parts of a conference of this scale gives Streamliner the space to focus entirely on delivering the highest-quality production possible.

WhAT IT MEANS

The HX Conference is the moment each year when Harcourts New Zealand gathers its entire network, celebrates its best people, and sets the tone for the year ahead. That it happens against a production backdrop that consistently exceeds expectations is not a coincidence. It is the result of a collaboration where Harcourts, Total Event, and Streamliner each bring their best — and where the trust built across years of working together means every decision is made in service of the event.

For Streamliner, it is one of the clearest demonstrations of what a genuine long-term client relationship looks like in practice: an event that gets better every year, a client and event partner who trust the team to push the boundaries, and a body of work that speaks for itself.
